Greenwood Village, Colorado. – COGOP Chairwoman Kristi Burton Brown released the following statement today regarding the terrible news that Colorado’s drug overdose death rates have nearly doubled over the past 4 years:

“This is a tragedy. It’s a tragedy for every life lost, for every family, and for every individual who had their life cut short due to this poison. Fentanyl should be a felony in any amount. It’s a complete dereliction of duty that Yadira Caraveo and Brittany Pettersen, supported by Jared Polis and Phil Weiser, helped decriminalize fentanyl. It’s even more shameful that they didn’t move heaven and earth to help Republicans make it completely illegal in 2022 once drug overdoses increased dramatically. We need serious leaders, not politicians focused on pleasing their far-left base. Caraveo, Pettersen, Polis, Weiser, and the Colorado Democrats have routinely failed in this manner.”
